I live for the road, I love to travel, meet people, take photgraphs of the unexpected. In
the Fall of 2001, I had one of those conversations you have with your friends about what we'd
be doing in the summer. We spoke of the road trip and the potential for making photographs.
It was decided. In the summer of 2002, Bart Parker, Keith Johnson and I rented a Chevy Van
and headed for up state New York. We had no real agenda and the only rule was no veto. If you
saw something you wanted to photograph, any one of us could stop the van. It was a little
like sailing, each night we'd look for a cheap hotel to drop anchor, each day, we look at the
map and decide the general direction we'd follow. Here's some of the work that come out of
that.
