SPECIAL TOPICS IN CORE: Art Outside

Course description: Join plant scientist and ecological restorationist Tamra Raven and artist Pat Schuchard in the beauty of AGLAND, a 600 acre farm/eco-restoration area, and Deer Leap Lodge, a turn-of-the-century log lodge on the Sandstone Bluffs high above the Bourbeuse River Valley. These possible subjects and many more form the content of this course: field work, rudimentary surveying, mapping, trail marking, video, photography, drawing, building, species identification, studio design, site-specific sculpture, ecological restoration, farming operations, and a possible web site for the class' work. We will also have articles and bi-weekly discussions on wide-ranging subjects including creativity in nature, the information age, education, building on site in context, and the presence of place and sacred space. Class will meet for 8 Saturdays from 9:00 am-6:00 pm, including travel time.
